New England Law Review is a student-led flagship publication for New England Law | Boston, featuring scholarship by students, alumni, scholars, and in-field professionals. A bi-annual journal, New England Law Review prides itself on showcasing cutting-edge and novel legal scholarship.
As Law Students, New England Law Review members spend thousands of hours studying the intricacies of law and come from varying backgrounds, offering their unique perspectives on legal issues and discourse. As scholars and prospective attorneys, New England Law Review aims to promote and develop each member’s personal and professional development while leaving knowing they contributed to the progression of legal scholarship.

What are the benefits of joining Law Review?
Membership on Law Review is a high honor for many law students and is coveted by many legal employers. Students spend innumerable hours doing in-depth and meticulous research and writing, and a Member’s legal writing and research skills are strengthened immensely throughout their time on Law Review. Membership fosters collaboration, strengthens work ethic, and cultivates professional and academic discipline.

What are the duties of a Member?
First-year members are Associates. During weekly office hours, an associate edits and evaluates articles to ensure they are of publishable quality and compliant with the Law Review’s guidelines. In addition, Associates must write two publishable-quality articles: a Case Comment in the fall and a Note in the spring semester.

How can you join Law Review?
Students that have (1) 31 credits (equivalent of completing the first year of law school at full-time hours or completion of two years at part-time hours) and (2) are in the top qualifying percentage of their division are considered eligible and invited to Law Review. The exact percentage of students eligible to join Law Review varies depending on the journal’s needs.
Eligible students are notified when the spring semester grades are posted. Students are eligible by “Grading-on” by being students in the highest cumulative GPA of their respective divisions or invited to participate in a “Write-on Competition.” The write-on competition consists of three components: (1) a closed memo, (2) a personal statement, and (3) a technical component.
All incoming students, regardless of writing or grading on, join as associate members.
How does an Associate become an Editor or an Executive board position?
After completing Associate duties, an Associate vests into an editorial position for their second/ final year in Law Review. Editorial positions vary depending on the exact role.
The Executive Board consists of four positions, all held by previous Associates who completed their duties and requirements and were selected after a rigorous application and interview process. The executive board oversees the operations of Law Review, and each role varies depending on the position.
